Hill's j/d - Joint Care - Prescription Diet - Canine

Hill's Prescription Diet Canine j/d has a unique formula. The high content of Omega-3 fatty acids soothes inflamed tissue and relieves painful joints. It helps to maintain joint cartilage thanks to high levels of EPA (a special Omega-3 fatty acid from fish oil). Natural glucosamine and chondroitin provide the building blocks for healthy cartilage. Added L-carnitine helps maintain optimal body weight, and improves the quality of life by helping dogs run, play and jump more easily, as well as making it easier to get up after lying down.

Joint problems in dogs

Joint problems occur frequently in dogs. The most common type is osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition that affects the joint cartilage. Roughly 20% of dogs over 1 year old have some degree of osteoarthritis. The most common symptoms of joint disorders are: stiffness after activity, difficulty getting up and moving after a rest period, decreased level of activity and slow on walks, lameness, joint swelling, joints are painful to touch, restricted mobility of the affected joint, less stretching and/or bending, repeatedly licking the joint (due to pain and swelling), loss of appetite, and changes in behaviour (especially irritability due to pain).
